Irish software company Oneview Healthcare has signed a deal to provide its software to hospitals in Dubai.
The product is designed to integrate a hospital's IT systems across devices like bedside terminals, televisions, tablets and smartphones.
It will allow patients to book appointments, receive educational material specific to their condition and access test results. The deal was signed off following an agreement made on a trade mission to Dubai last January.
The product is expected to be in use in the two hospitals - Mediclinic City Hospital and Mediclinic Welcare Hospital - by March.
The value of the deal was not disclosed.
"We are absolutely delighted to partner with an organisation of Mediclinic's stature and reputation and to have this opportunity to play a leading role in the patient engagement revolution currently taking place in the Middle East," Oneview's Middle East and North Africa chief executive Douglas Collins said.
"We see firsthand how improving the patient experience has become one of the most important issues in modern healthcare," Oneview founder and president Mark McCloskey said.
It'll be the first time Oneview's products will be used in the Middle East on a commercial basis.
The company is currently working on rolling out software in hospitals in the US and Australia.
