BATH REGIONAL FIRE AND RESCUE IN NEW BRUNSWICK IS THE FIRST IN ATLANTIC CANADA TO INSTALL THE ZOLL AUTOPULSE
Delivers Consistent, High-quality Chest Compressions
The AutoPulse helps to improve blood flow to the heart and brain during SCA because of the unique, high-quality chest compressions it generates.
According to Stephen Armour, Bath Fire Chief, his department selected the AutoPulse because the AutoPulse is quick to apply and provides consistent, high-quality chest compressions while moving and transporting patients.
“The AutoPulse is so efficient to use,” said Armour. “During transport to the hospital, and especially during long transports in the many rural areas we serve, the AutoPulse continues high-quality chest compressions, something that’s not been possible with manual CPR.”
“By providing high-quality CPR on the move, the Auto Pulse also helps to ensure patient and rescuer safety during movement from the scene of the cardiac arrest to the back of the ambulance, as well as during transport to the hospital,” he added. “It also frees a paramedic to provide other interventions during transport.”
About the AutoPulse Resuscitation System
The AutoPulse® Resuscitation System provides high-quality automated CPR to victims of sudden cardiac arrest. Easy to use and battery operated, the AutoPulse squeezes the patient’s entire chest to improve blood flow to the heart and brain.1,2,3 The only device of its kind, the AutoPulse automatically sizes to the patient, and has shown improved outcomes in numerous clinical trials.4,5
Designed for Resuscitation on the Move™, a recent study showed that the AutoPulse had a significant survival benefit when compared to manual CPR when resuscitation efforts lasted longer than 16 minutes.6 In a meta-analysis of 12 comparative clinical trials, the AutoPulse improved the odds of return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) by 62% when compared to manual CPR.5
